Applied Business Concepts (ABC) is a value added reseller of business productivity software. To promote sales, ABC had put together an information kit to mail to prospective clients. The kit did a good job of describing and promoting the products themselves, but it did little to explain the value of purchasing the products from ABC.
The first thing we did was define precisely the needs that customers face. We wrote a description that spelled out how ABC addresses those needs and then enlisted a graphic designer to reinforce the case visually. The second thing we did was establish a regularly scheduled newsletter that provides practical advice.
Today, ABC clearly communicates not only the attributes of the software but also the customer-focused services that ABC provides. Even in an uncertain economy, the firm has won awards for outstanding sales volume.
